Safety Coordinator!

The Health & Safety Coordinator position is part of the Operations team reporting directly to the Leominster Plant Manager. You will work with the Management Team and Safety Committee to continue to maintain, develop, and improve Training, and Compliance programs. The Health & Safety Coordinator will also collaborate closely with the IPL, ERIS division Health & Safety Director and with Global IPL H&S.


Develop and train employees across all shifts and departments to improve understanding and ability while fostering a teamwork atmosphere




Required Qualifications :

• Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to local, state, and federal legal guidelines


• Work with department managers to prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety


• Oversee the Company Safety Committee


• In conjunction with the Safety Committee, coordinate and conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety walkthroughs and inspections in all areas including, but not limited to:


·         Ladders


·         Eyewash stations


·         Fire Extinguishers


• Implement a Safety Corrective Action program to ensure the swift remedying of safety-related concerns


• Direct incident investigation procedures


• Responsible for routine Safety processes, along with accident investigations reporting results to all necessary teams


• Conduct all Safety-related training and re-training on all shifts to include LOTO, First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen, Hearing Conservation, Haz-Com, Forklift, Walking Working Surfaces, as well as conduct all new hire orientations ensuring all documentation is current.


o This will require a flexible work schedule to accommodate the training of the off-shifts by either coming in early or staying late


• Maintain required safety and health records/files


• Maintain OSHA 300 and 300A logs and reporting


• Retain and log all safety-related training sign off sheets, attendance, and necessary documentation for all employees


• Monitor routine Safety processes, along with accident investigations reporting results to all necessary teams


• Assist with the coordination of all Safety-related training on all shifts to include LOTO, First Aid/Blood Borne Pathogen, annual Audiological testing, Confined Space, Haz-Com, Forklift, Front End Loader, Fall Protection, Walking Working Surfaces, as well as conduct all new hire orientations ensuring all documentation is current


• Monitor PPE inventory – initiate purchase requests when needed


 


• 2 + years of Occupational Health & Safety experience working in a manufacturing environment


• 1 + years of proven leadership experience


• Effective oral and written communication skills


• Evidence of the practice of a high level of confidentiality


• Excellent time management and organizational skills


• High school diploma or GED equivalent


• OHS certification or recognized equivalent training or relevant experience in Prevention and OHS management


• Must be able to work effectively independently and as part of a team


• Must be computer literate and proficient in utilizing Microsoft Office products


o Must be able to manipulate and format spreadsheets independently


• Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred


Working Conditions


• Standing and/or sitting for prolonged periods of time - up to 8 hours or more per day.


• Appearance at all times must represent the company image


• Work area may have fluorescent lighting and air conditioning


• Moderate to loud noise level in manufacturing areas – hearing protection required


• Fast-paced environment: subject to numerous priority changes and short-notice activity
